Last Friday we went upstairs to Todd and Don's house to have dinner and watch a movie. I almost went in my pajamas, but decided at the last minute to at least put some jeans on. Lucky for me. Very much to my total surprise, everybody that I know in Japan was sitting in the living room. Looking back on it, I obviously should have known. In fact, everybody was certain that I DID know. However, pregnancy does this funny thing to your brain where it obliterates your short-term memory and makes you extremely obtuse. I missed all of the signs and, for once, somebody got one over on me. Yay! I was delighted! We had a wonderful potluck buffet and hung out all night long. We got lots of very cool presents and lots of good, helpful advice. I feel so much more prepared than I did last week. L'il Allison can go ahead and come now. We're ready. It was also a great thing for my outside friends (people from my supplementary Japanese class) to meet my inside friends (Foreign Service people). The party consisted of all genders and all ages, so it wasn't a boring and silly girl thing. A good time was had by all. We had wine AND video games. So thanks everybody. I feel surprisingly grounded and surrounded by family. Chris assures me that he would not have allowed me to actually arrive at the party in my pajamas. For the record. | |||||
