Exit Yokohama, Enter Tokyo

Sort of. Right after Rob and Paloma left Japan, we moved from our house in Yokohama to our permanent quarters in Tokyo. Or rather, our stuff moved. What a glorious feeling to be reunited with our things after being separated for five months! I was so calmed to see our artwork again. However, the reunion was somewhat false. Our stuff moved into the apartment in Tokyo, but we did not. I moved out to Yokosuka navy base to be near the hospital. Chris sort of bounced around between Tokyo, Yokohama, and Yokosuka. While I was holed up at the navy base - in my confinement, so to speak - Chris finished his Japanese classes and began his new job at the Embassy and started family leave to be with me. Talk about confusing. And this is the way we stayed until Max was born.

But we are settled now, and comfortably so. Finally, we have only one home that we will stay in for two years. I love our new house and I really, really love Tokyo. We live on the first and second floors and all of our windows look out into the large Japanese garden, complete with massive koi pond and waterfall, which is right next to our bedroom window.

Though I am still recovering from labor, we are all managing to have a nice time while Chris still has leave. He has started work, but is working half-days for a couple of weeks. That way, we get the afternoons together.

A virtual tour of our home shall be forthcoming.
