our home

We stayed at a nice little pension right in the heart of the Baixa, which is the lower part of the city right near the port. Here is the view from our balcony. It was pretty cheap, but things sure have changed since the adoption of the Euro. It's a more expensive city than it was when I was there last. However, the trams and buses are all new and eco-friendly, and there seems to be a much stronger infrastructure in the city. So I guess the money isn't going to waste. We had a very generous offer to stay with my friends Rita and Ricardo, but we decided that we're too old to couch surf (even though that's how I survived for the previous six weeks in DC).
