we ate them

And they were yummy.

I went to the consulate one afternoon to have lunch with Chris, because he is very busy and stressed and we have discovered that it is really nice for him to have a little break in the afternoon. I brought him a pizza and a big salad (a very hard thing to come by here in Madras. They don't do lettuce here and if they did we couldn't eat it anyway).

We sat down to lunch and were promptly bombarded by five different friends and co-workers with stories, gossip, and questions. And on top of that, Chris had a presentation that he had to deliver in 40 minutes that he had forgotten about. We barely spoke two sentences to each other over the din.

He was sad and I felt bad for him so I decided to make up for it by having a picnic for dinner. In the living room.

For my picnic, I went in search of lobsters. Now, lobsters here are very different from Atlantic lobsters. They are typically smaller, tougher, and very spiny. Here, they are also very difficult to find. I had seen some at one of two Korean restaurants, so I went to check it out. They had a lot of live ones in the tank and I bought the two biggest ones they had. They cost about $40 US. That is a LOT of money here.

But it was worth it. We had a very nice picnic.
