newlyweds no more!

On 7 May, 2004, we got married. Now we have been married for one (1) full year. Yay!

It seems so long ago, and yet it seems like yesterday . . .

As corny as that is, it is actually true. I can't believe that I have only been married for a year because SO much has happened in that short period of time. A year ago, I was still living in Brooklyn, working in midtown, hanging out with my peeps on and around Myrtle Avenue, tromping down to DC on the Chinatown bus every weekend to visit my new husband. Ha! Now I live in India, have been delightfully unemployed for eight (8) months, and hang out at my own house because there is no place else to go. And my husband and I even live together. Times, they do'a change.

At the same time, it really does seem like only yesterday that we drove down to the Arlington County Courthouse and I giggled all the way through my vows. I can still see Spring dogwoods blooming. I can hear the cicadas. I can smell Dr. Dremo's.

Thank you to Rob, who made us do it in the first place. Thank you to Rob and Gwydion, for taking that little trip with us and for sharing that warm pint of Jim Beam in the Arlington County Courthouse parking lot. I still can't believe that all four of us forgot to bring a camera. Thank you to all of our family members for not getting mad at us when we didn't manage to tell anybody what we had done until significantly after the fact.

To celebrate our anniversary, we escaped the drudgery and heat of Chennai to spend a long weekend at the fancy-pants place in Pondicherry. You can learn about our weekend here, if you are so inclined . . .
