on the road again Chris got sent home for some training classes in American Citizen Services, which is what he is currently doing at work. He works in the ACS section of the Consular Section of the American Embassy in Tokyo. His flight was routed through New York so he got to see Breck and Abeni and some of the rest of the NYC crew for a very short time. He then spent a week in DC, where he got to see some of the DC crew and some of the Foreign Service crew. We have a lot of crews. Max and I spent ten (10) entire days alone! It was actually sort of fun. In a way. Without Chris here to take care of us, we lived on frozen pizza and Coke. I am a sad excuse for an adult human being. I ate Milkduds and Ben & Jerry's. I am so bad. Luckily, our friends were all very supportive and invited me to do things with them. They also cooked for me and sent me home with leftovers so that I wouldn't starve to death. Thanks guys! But, seriously, I just don't know how people raise children alone. It was difficult. Knowing that I had to change EVERY diaper and be the solo first response team to EVERY need was sort of overwhelming. I am very lucky to have some relief built in to every normal day. Max is very lucky to have two parents. And I thought it was hard even though I don't have to go to work! I really can't imagine how a single parent takes care of a baby AND goes to work in order to support it. I have a lot of respect for people who pull that off. Overall though, we all had fun.
