Sometimes things happen that make you sad and scared, no matter what country you live in. A few days ago, our very good friend Bruce, who works in commerce in Chennai, was in a serious car accident and has been med-evac'd to Singapore for surgery. Luckily, he is now in stable condition and the first of his surgeries has gone well. His girlfriend Teresa is with him and all of us left back here in Chennai are thinking of them.

These types of incidents are sobering no matter where you are and we are all very relived that the accident wasn't worse. Most of the time, Bruce drives a motorcycle (a very cool motorcycle). Luckily, he was in his SUV when the accident happened, for which everyone has expressed thankfulness. Equally lucky is the fact that he was in his last day of employment with the department and not the day AFTER his last day of employment with the department. As cruel as Fate can be, she can also be mildly polite. At least.
